I have my first, only me, showing at Enve hair salon downtown Ocala, FL Jan Friday the 7th, 2011 from 6 to 8pm. Wine and cheese will be served. Am I nervous? Hell yeah I am!
Why did I pick a hair salon? Well, I had gone there for almost a year since my hair stylist got work there. It is thee place to get your hair done if you care anything about hair fashion. It's hard for stylists to get jobs there they are so picky about quality. Plus, they are always busy. I mean BUSY. My stylist was booked for two months straight in fact.
Also, it is in a prime location, being on the square downtown. They already play awesome music. They have two TV's in the windows at the entrance. The inside decor is like no art studio or gallery in the area too.
Plus, it is unexpected. I mean who has heard of a gallery showing in a hair salon before? It will be fun for the staff and customers. I had been looking for the right place for a long time. In fact, I was on my way to another gallery as I passed by and it hit me, ask them, all they can say is no. Well, by the next week I had my proposal ok'd and a signed contract for the show.
Now comes all the hard work. Getting tables and easels on the cheep. I'll need fabrics, plates, glasses, advertising materials, and more. I think it will be fun seeing my ideas come to life.
